    • Run your installers, check for betas ...

      BUT

keep in mind, its a beta. Made available by Laminar only because its officially expected to have bugs. Never update your only X-Plane install to a beta. Always make a copy of your regular install first and update that copy to the beta.

Its OK to share the 'X-Plane 12 Global Scenery' folder, NOT the whole 'Global Scenery' - you will want the new Global Airports. Make a symbolic link or a directory junction in the beta and use the one you've already got in your regular installation. The global scenery is a separate update topic in the installer and there are no changes to the global scenery with this release.

First, "2.1" is a major reorganization of the SASL plugin LUA code to implement techniques we developed for our V-22 Osprey project.

The Osprey is a huge SASL plugin code project, our biggest and most sophisticated yet after the T-6A. It required a whole new level of organization to accomplish and now I have rewritten the T-6A code using the same techniques. The result of this better organization is not only 10% faster running code and ~ 1 FPS increase in the sim but, because of the better organization we were able to spot several missing pieces of systems logic and fix things that we didn't even realize were not working the way they should.

I started this rewrite ~ 60 days ago and some things were fixed in "2.0" back in late March. This new file completes the planned development of the T-6A "2.0" for X-Plane 12, at least until I can think of something else.

      The final finishing features are:

      1. Final touches to the Flight Model after consultations with several USAF T-6A Undergraduate Pilot Trainees resulting in still further reductions in approach configuration drag and power requirements. You will find it necessary to use the speed brake more often in this version of the T-6A like UPT student have to in the real airplane.

      2. The reorganized code allowed me to see the source of discrepancies between the EADI (Electronic Attitude Direction Indicator) in "composite" mode (ADI above, Compass card below) and the EHSI (Electronic Horizontal Situation Indicator. Those have all been fixed and the two separate displays are now in sync. I also discovered several circuit breakers that were NOT implemented since the original model was release on Nov 1, 2022! Who knew that was even possible.

      3. I created a new popup for the EFIS (Electronic Flight Instrument System) control panel that is situated directly below the EHSI at the top of the cockpit center pedestal. You can pop this up and move it somewhere out of the way or onto a second monitor. There are now seven popup displays available in "2.1" (see screenshot below).

      4. We rethought the display of our R2c ("Roll to See") and Target Track plugin mode status. These use the cockpit glareshield FIRE button when it is not in use (no engine fire detected) to show you whether R2c or Target Track is ON or not and what cockpit mode you are in (either 2D or 3D). It is all detailed in the revised T-6A User Guide 2.1 rev 5 PDF in the models Manuals sub folder. You can download the User Guide below if you want to see what's going on first before you buy the model at the store.

      5. Finally, I want mention two new liveries created by "eldo" here at X-Plane.org; a 97th FTS (Flight Training Squadron) special Heritage Flight livery called "Devil Cat"*. The 97th at Sheppard AFB, Texas trains European NATO Joint Jet Pilot trainees to fly the T-6A. "Eldo" also created a civil/military looking livery "N6AT". Both new liveries are available on the freeware download manager. In the Aircraft Skins - Liveries section look for AOA Simulation > T-6A. There are currently 35 additional T-6A liveries there for you to choose from to "freshen up" your daily T-6A training flights.

*An obvious oxymoron. Cats are NOT devils. Dogs, on the other hand ...

    • The VSKYLABS 'Test-Pilot': CT/4E Airtrainer v3.0 RELEASED!!!
      Available now here: https://store.x-plane.org/PAC-CT4E-Airtrainer_p_1456.html

      AP1GczNJoyVsSH-e_XBij-3k-_jD7_0rPl9_k5fW

      Development notice:
The development of the VSKYLABS CT/4E Airtrainer project for X-Plane flight simulator was approved by Pacific Aerospace Corporation. However, it is an independent VSKYLABS project which is not related, affiliated and/or endorsed with Pacific Aerospace Corporation.

      The Real-World CT/4 Airtrainer:
*information is quoted from the 'NZAero' website:
      https://www.aerospace.co.nz/aircraft/ct-4-airtrainer/description

The CT-4 is a widely loved aircraft that has trained many of the top military pilots over the past decades.  Through the incorporation of modern avionics this aircraft has transformed into a proven agile and robust fully aerobatic (+6G to -3G) aircraft which remains at the forefront of ab initio military trainer aircraft.

The CT-4 is a two side-by-side seater, single engine, low wing, all metal monoplane with fixed tricycle undercarriage that is able to operate in VFR and IFR conditions.

The CT-4E model of the aircraft, with its well proven and powerful 300 shp Lycoming engine and three bladed propeller, provides a very capable aircraft which challenges the students while also being a forgiving platform. With the incorporation of an EFIS system into the aircraft it is at the forefront of high-performance trainer aircraft while retaining its legacy as a robust aircraft with low maintenance and operating costs.

Known for its light, well balanced and instantly positive handling characteristics the CT-4 is the ideal platform for straight through airline pilot training and basic military training. In the later role it can provide a highly effective lower cost lead-in to the more powerful turbo-prop trainers such as the Beechcraft T-6B Texan II and the Pilatus PC-21 aircraft as part of an integrated training solution.

      The VSKYLABS 'Test-Pilot' CT/4E Airtrainer:
The VSKYLABS CT/4E simulation was developed to follow the real CT/4E specs, handling and performance characteristics. It is a robust aircraft simulation model which is making use of X-Plane 12 sophisticated flight dynamics and physics simulation, extracting it to its limits.

Due to the depth of simulation for both systems and flight dynamics, the VSKYLABS CT/4E is considered a 'Study-Level' grade add-on, meaning that the operation of the simulated model can be followed the real-world checklists and procedures.

Being a PC based simulation, some differences between the simulated CT/4E and the real Airtrainer may be noticeable. Although it is a simulated model, a lot of effort was made to bring these differences to a minimum and within reasonable margins.

      Project Highlights:

      • VSKYLABS 'Test-Pilot' Project: designed for use with X-Plane cutting edge flight model environment, featuring superb flight dynamics with authentic performance and flight handling characteristics.
      • Built for VR: development was tailored specifically for VR, and optimized for 2D usage.
      • The VSKYLABS projects are practically show-casing X-Plane, as they are stretching X-Plane default features, systems and flight model to its limits without any dependencies on complementary plugins or software...delivering a very robust simulation model, having maximum compatibility with the ever evolving X-Plane flight simulator.
      • Perfect fit for beginner and expert pilots, including aerobatics.
      • Optional 3-d HUD (optimized for VR and 2-d environments).
      • Built-in Avitab Plugin Compatibility (AviTab plugin is not included).
      • Autoupdater based on the SkunkCrafts autoupdater (XP12 only) - all updates are being pushed smoothly without the need to re-download the entire base package (base package will be updated every once in a while to minimize the gap).
      • Highly responsive VSKYLABS support forums: VSKYLABS is offering a continuous professional support from aircraft related aspects (operating and flying) to X-Plane technical support.
      • The project is under constant maintenance and development.

    • Ford_Tri_Motor_4AT-V2-38.jpgThe X-Plane 12 version of the Ford Tri-Motor 4-AT ("little Ford") is now released.

The new package has many new features to take advantage of XP12.

All planes now have custom airfoils and use XP12's new loading stations feature so you can input the weights of your passengers and cargo and X-Plane will compute an accurate CG and Weight and Balance.  All this improves and makes handling and performance more accurate.

The float plane has been redone with accurate 1930's style floats to take advantage of XP12's new water environment.  All sounds have been upgraded in the latest fmod version used by XP12.  The engines have been remodeled to be more detailed and other improvements to the model have been done.

Interiors now are custom for each airline using that airline's color scheme.

XP12 now allows for different engines on the same plane, so Byrd's Antarctic planes have been redone to take advantage of this feature.

There are many other upgrades also to make the plane compatible in XP12.  The package contains two versions of the 4AT in various liveries (sloped window and vertical window), the float version, and Byrd's modified Antarctic plane (the first plane to fly over the South Pole) in both wheel and ski versions.  The 4AT was the first production Tri-Motor produced by Ford and has a slightly smaller fuselage than the larger 5-AT model (which is also in the store).  Enjoy.
